Sunnyvale, CA – April 15, 2011— Bloom Energy®, today announced a significant expansion of its California manufacturing facility in Sunnyvale, CA increasing the company’s footprint by four times to over 210,000 square feet, and providing over 1000 new jobs for Californians. Bloom Energy expanded its workforce by over 70% in 2010 alone, and has grown 525% over the past four years, company officials announced. Bloom Energy started in 2001 with eight employees, and has, over the past decade, experienced exponential growth to meet the increasing demand for Bloom Energy Servers™.
“Bloom Energy was born in California, we manufacture in California and we continue to thrive and grow in our home state,” said KR Sridhar, principal co-founder and CEO of Bloom Energy. “We’re grateful to be in a state that supports and encourages innovations like those from Bloom Energy to help address the state’s clean energy needs while giving California’s economy a healthy boost.”
Even during the depths of the recession, Bloom Energy was able to report significant job growth over the past two years, demonstrating the power of innovation and clean technology to fuel California’s economy.
“Bloom Energy’s decision to create clean tech jobs in Silicon Valley is more evidence that California is the epicenter of innovation and industry,” said Governor Brown. “Our state is at the forefront of the growing clean technology sector, which is creating the jobs of the 21st century. Anyone looking for ways to create jobs need look no further than Sunnyvale, where Bloom Energy is doing exactly that with a high rate of success.”
Approximately 120 Bloom Boxes have been deployed across California, reducing the carbon footprint and operating costs for customers such as Google, Walmart, Caltech, Staples, The Coca Cola Company, and Kaiser Permanente.
